.Bay Bridge Design Slows Traffic

The so-called “s-curve” in the temporary section of the Bay Bridge installed over the Labor Day Weekend is slowing down traffic considerably, according to the Chron. Motorists unfamiliar with the elongated curve are slowing down to negotiate it and the evening commute from San Francisco to Oakland has slowed by about 57 percent since CalTrans had the “s-curve” put in two weeks ago. The curve near Yerba Buena/Treasure Island is scheduled to be in place until at least 2013, when the new eastern span opens.
