Believe it or not, BART is broke again. We know, we know. You read all these accounts about record numbers of people riding the train and thought, “Well, all those new riders should keep the system flush, at least.” No such luck, thanks to state budget cuts. So starting in April parking in the San Leandro and Castro Valley stations will cost a buck. Parking in the Union City, Pleasant Hill, and Pittsburg/Bay Point stations will also come with a fee, but no timetable has been set to implement it yet.
