Known for his ink-based drawings and quirky poetry, artist and award-winning author Paul Madonna takes readers on a visual trip around Southeast Asia with his new, beautifully illustrated novel, Close Enough for the Angels. The story follows two protagonists — Emit Hopper, a former musician and writer turned business owner who falls back into the spotlight, and Julia Bowman, a former celebrity chef with a mysterious past life that creeps up on her. “While he appears in control of his life, he’s just on this ride and has no idea where it’s going,” Madonna said about the Emit character. Yet the two characters somehow balance each other’s chaotic lives. “Where Emit is tossed around on the roller coaster, Julia grabs hold and steers it,” he said. Hear Madonna read from the book and get your copy signed at Moe’s Books on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
